An Open Letter to the Jerk Who Spat on my Neighbor’s Trump Sign and Then Stole it

Trump sign posted on a fence beside a sign stating that the area is under video surveillance.

Whenever I walked to the library, I had to pass a great big Trump sign on the fence of one of my neighbors.

You obviously noticed it too.

I’m a diehard Democrat and I hated that sign. I wanted to spit on it, rip it down, or get in touch with my inner juvenile delinquent and deface the Bejesus out of it.

But I didn’t, because I am a grown-up. I know that the way to deal with a Trump supporter is to beat them at the ballot box, not to destroy their property.

Destroying property is not political discourse.

It is thuggery.

So every time I saw that sign, I’d congratulate myself for behaving like a good citizen and keep on walking.

But that’s clearly not the way you roll.

Yesterday afternoon, when I passed that Trump sign on my library walk, I saw there was now a smaller sign posted beside it:

This area is under 24 hour video surveillance.

The homeowner happened to be in his driveway, so I asked, “Did somebody vandalize your Trump sign? Is that why you posted…
