Elon Musk is an Asshole
Henry Ford was an asshole too.
There are many reasons to despise Elon Musk, from his Nazi salute to his destructive dismantling of our federal government.
Sure, he’s a world--changing visionary who has accomplished great things. He gave us PayPal, Space X, and Tesla, which, arguably have made this planet a better place.
But he’s also a world-class asshole.
I’m Jewish and I grew up in Detroit. Every Jew who grows up in Detroit soon learns that Henry Ford was an asshole too. He, too, was a world-changing visionary; he made cars affordable for the average American with the introduction of the assembly line and the Model T.
But he was also a rabid antisemite who used his status as a trusted and popular business leader to spread hateful conspiracy theories about Jews. Ford’s diatribes against the Jewish people were so well-known and widely circulated that Adolf Hitler actually complimented him in the pages of Mein Kampf.
Ford was an unrepentant racist, stating that he had “the greatest respect for the motives which lead Americans to join the Ku Klux Klan” and describing that organization as “a much misunderstood and much maligned band of patriots.”
