Every single birthday party I attended as a little girl in the 1960s included this game.

And pin the tail on the donkey.

The kids in our neighborhood used to play something we called Roof Ball, which involved throwing a ball up onto the slanted roof of somebody's garage and then running as quickly as we could down the driveway -- or staying to try to catch the ball as it came down before it bounced. If you stayed to catch it and it bounced -- you were out. If you caught it, then you immediately got to throw the ball up onto the roof. The rules were more elaborate than that but it's been 60 years and I've forgotten them.

What a fun post this was to read!
