Good question.
On Medium you can rely on a good subtitle to augment your title.
But you have to keep in mind that when the story gets shared via social media, sometimes the subtitle doesn't make it onto the screen.
For instance, when I share my work on Facebook I've noticed that sometimes the subtitles don't turn up.
So if I'm relying on that subtitle? I'm screwed.
And if I've published a story on Medium with a subtitle that I then submit to a market outside of Medium, I often have to rewrite the title since a lot of those markets don't use subtitles.
For instance? Chicken Soup for the Soul.
On the other hand, their editors are famous for retitling the work they use in their collections. So what the hell.
