Given the progress that we've made, I do think that this country is moving in the right direction. But slowly, and with lots of fits and starts.

Still, when I marched for LGBTQ rights in Washington in 1993 I never would have believed that just twenty years later gay marriage would be legal in this country.

I would have been thrilled to learn that. So it does get better.
