Hi Tony!

It's cool to know that you've read this.

It's the first time you've heard that phrase because I made it up.

In an essay I wrote years ago about how much I disliked being included in a great big blanket of green Medium profile tags that are usually employed to lure readers to a piece that they have no real connection with.

Now, I just leave a comment asking the writer to remove me and move on to the next Medium story I want to read.

I also make a practice of NOT spending 30 seconds on a story that includes me in a Tag Blanket, thus thwarting any writer who is doing this just to grab some extra reading time.

But now that I've spend several minutes on this response, I'm guessing that the Jolly Quill is entitled to that reading time.

Assuming that the time a reader spends writing a response counts as reading time for the author whose work inspired the response.

Does it?

I've never been sure about that.
