I have yet to receive that promised bit of $$ for readers listening to my work instead of reading it.

So for me I guess it's moot.

I believe in accessibility, so I welcomed the automatic audio -- I want readers who are sight impaired -- as I used to be before I had my cataract surgery -- to be able to enjoy everything that Medium has to offer.

That being said, writers who would prefer to read their own work should be given that option.
