I never thanked any of my editors in print when I used to write for print magazines and newspapers, but I always thanked them in the emails -- and before that the letters -- we exchanged as we were working together to whip the story into shape for publication.

The story I published in SEVENTEEN magazine went through 5 or 6 redrafts -- but it was worth it!

I remain grateful for those editors for teaching me the basics and for their patience as I drafted and redrafted a story until it worked for their publication.
