I think humor is mostly under-used in writing. Humor has the power to keep complex content light. It also has the power to leave an impression on your readers. Some of the best writers I know deploy humor like a weapon throughout their writing to boost the story-telling power.

As a humorist, I totally agree with you here except for when the writer has a bad or offensive sense of humor. Then it can really backfire.

Humor can be tricky.

(I’m sure you noticed that I just used your one word bold+italics trick. Great idea. I’m totally going to use it from now on, and when I do I’ll think of it as the Jun Wu Power Move.)
