I will never forget the shock of reading The Autobiography of Malcolm X when I was a teenager. It sure wasn’t assigned reading at the school I attended. I have no idea how I got my hands on it. But it rocked my world. That’s what a book ought to do. The Old Man and the Sea did not rock my world. That book put me right to sleep.
