If I had plans to fly to California and learned that I had Covid I'd cancel the trip.

The problem for me -- and for a lot of people I know of -- is what to do when you're on vacation or traveling on business and you test positive.

I've heard from several readers who felt strongly that I should have stayed in that hotel room in California until I tested negative.

It took me 3 weeks to test negative.

21 nights at $200/night?

I don't think so.

When you're in a hotel far from home with Covid, the usual support structure of friends and neighbors you can rely on to take care of you is absent.

I didn't know how long my illness would last or how sick I'd get.

When I fly to California this Thursday I'm sure there will be more than one person on that plane who has Covid.

I'm going to wear a mask. I hope they will too.
