Amen to this. I’m a freelance editor and writing coach. I work with writers to help improve and publish their prose. But I cost money. And the first thing I tell anyone who is interested in working with me is that I am not their only option. Taking part in a good writing workshop, or swapping work in a critique club with another writer will go a long way to helping you learn what I can teach you.
