I'm lucky in that I loved my library job, and was very happy with it. I looked forward to going to work! That being said, I realized while reading this that one of the reasons I so enjoyed it was that over time I volunteered to take on a number of tasks that needed doing and that I knew I'd enjoy doing -- which made my job more fun and made me more valuable to the library.

Which is a roundabout way of saying that this is good advice.
