I'm one of those people.

I'm on a med that reduces my risk of getting breast cancer, because I have a genetic defect that raises my risk of getting breast cancer.

Are you implying that that this is somehow my fault and that I shouldn't be taking a med that could save my life?

My mother died of breast cancer and two of my first cousins, and my sister have all gotten breast cancer.

I've been on this med for 5 years and I'm damn glad that it exists.

I agree with a lot of what you've said in this article but NOT with the idea that there's something wrong about folks over 50 being on prescription meds.
