It’s funny how which songs we sing during the holidays plays out.

In the Detroit public schools when I was a kid, all of us, Jews included, were taught Christmas songs. So I was a little Jew singing about Christ our savior is born and silent night.

There was usually just one Hanukkah song. Dreidel dreidel.

The songs were beautiful so I enjoyed learning and singing them.
