Medium writers are paid solely on the basis of what much time Paying Medium members spend reading their work.

So If you aren't a paying Medium member but paying Medium members are reading YOUR work? You get a paycheck.

But it doesn't work the other way around.

A million non-paying Members can read my stories -- and I'll get paid zilch.
