My Thanksgiving Medium Experiment
I’m going to be out of town and away from my computer this Thanksgiving.
Which is to say, from Wednesday morning to the following Monday.
Usually when I’m away from my computer and unable to post new work on Medium, I’ll schedule posts to be published while I’m away to make sure my stats don’t plummet.
Then, on the road, I’ll check in on my phone to see who is reading my posts, and to try to return the favor by reading their work.
But this Thanksgiving? I’m going to try something different.
I’m not going to post a thing. I’m just going to read your work.
I’m going to use those holiday hours — killing time at the airport and hanging around the living room stuffed with turkey and before I turn off the light each night — to take a deep dive into the work of every Medium writer whose posts I love but don’t always have time to enjoy.
I hope to get caught up on all of my favorites, and to find new favorite writers, both by reading my favorite publications, and following fun TAGS wherever they lead me.
So — five days of reading and commenting and highlighting and clapping — but no new posts.
Anyone want to guess what impact that’ll have on my stats?
Will the writers whose work I clap for seek out and read my work in turn?
Or will my Read Time plummet because I’m not posting anything new?
There’s only one way to find out.
Wish me luck! And? Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m thankful for all of the wonderful folks I’ve met on Medium this year.
And? I want to thank all of you in advance for keeping me company when my flight is delayed.
