OMG what kind of school did you go to? There's no way My public school would have gathered students to watch a fight on television. The parents would have hit the roof.

Several readers who are younger than me have mentioned that they don't remember much about Kennedy being shot but they do remember the lunar landing.

It makes me wonder about what impact having that kind of joyful event as their Big Generational Moment rather than a murder had on them.

Among other things, the President being killed taught us that awful things could happen out of the blue at any moment.

And I'm sure I'm not the only person who carried that awareness with me throughout my life.

That sure isn't what the lunar landing was about.
