One of my favorite Writing Group moments took place years ago, when one member of the group responded to constructive criticism of his story by pulling a knife on our writing instructor and threatening to cut him. Other members of the group jumped him. (Everybody had had a drink or two).

Hilarity ensued.

Nobody was hurt. The room was a mess by the time it was over.

But I left the group anyway.

I decided that I would never again join a writing group that met in somebody’s house.
