Several readers have pointed out that they're okay with not eating nuts if their eating nuts is going to kill somebody.

It's hard to argue with this point of view.

And one of them even called me a Republican!

Of course the reality is a little more complicated.

One thing I've learned from the responses to this piece is that there doesn't seem to be anything a person with a bad nut allergy can do to protect themselves.
