Terrific piece!

I hope that people read it and take it to heart.

After my father died, I found that resuming work at the library circulation desk was healing and distracting - EXCEPT for when the emotional vampires and drama queens would, under the guise of caring and sympathy, do their best to shake my calm affect. I didn't want to start sobbing at the circ desk -- but with all of their insensitive questions and over-the-top lamentations about how sad and awful it was to lose a parent, that's what they seemed to really want me to do. It's as if they wouldn't stop until I broke down.

Weird. And they probably thought that they were only trying to help.
