The solution of refraining from highlighting so that Medium won't keep informing me that everyone I know has also highlighted a sentence didn't even occur to me!

That being said, I'll continue to highlight.

I really enjoy highlighting, and I know I'm not alone in wishing that I could highlight work that is published outside of Medium.

I was hoping that once I published that essay about how annoying it was to be told everytime one of my Medium pals had highlighted something that I'd highlighted, Medium would come to its senses and cut this out.

It didn't happen!
