That actually isn't true.

Your words are just as interesting as they always were.

Mine are too.

Our work didn't suddenly get worse.

The only thing that changed is Coach Tony's decision to value a different kind of writing.

Currently, personal essays have fallen out of favor -- and meta essays have fallen WAY out of favor -- and the financial rug has been pulled out from under the folks who write that stuff.

Including you and me.

And the Medium money is flowing to the folks that write about something else.

Either that'll lead to fun and profit for Coach Tony or it won't -- and the kind of writing that gets rewarded will change again.

DO NOT let the current situation make you think that there is anything wrong with your writing.

I'm an editor and I'm here to say that every writer can improve.

And every writer should want to improve.

But the fact that medium no longer values personal essays doesn't mean that your writing sucks.
