They were never free at the same time. First he two-timed his wife with her. By the time he and his wife divorced, Maggie was married to someone else. So he got together with me, but then the two of them got together behind my back and behind her husband’s back. After I found out about them and threw him out, he expected her to leave her husband for him — but she didn’t. As far as I know, they’re still sneaking around behind her husband’s back.

So it was the timing.

Either that or the sneaking around was part of the thrill.
