When I was growing up, one of the first things I learned was that I couldn't talk with mom until she'd finished her first cup of coffee.

I was welcome to join her at the breakfast table and keep her company.

But conversation wasn't on the table until she'd finished that first cup.

And now I'm the same way.

Unless there's an emergency, I'm not online until I'm caffeinated.
